esmo trainees' field trip 2019 – peak experience

up the mountain together

This year's field trip destination for the 13 esmo group trainees was the 1,838 m high Wendelstein mountain, and thus the highest peak of the Mangfallgebirge, which belongs to the eastern part of the Bavarian foothills of the Alps.

Together with their training manager Florian Zosseder and training supervisor Georg Fischbacher, the young folks cheerfully set off.

However, before they were to go up, their agenda provided for a guided workshop tour of the Wendelstein cogwheel railway, which has taken tourists and hikers up the Wendelstein in 25 minutes for more than 100 years.

Wolfgang Mayr greeted the group friendly, and took them along to the workshop, where he particularly explained technical details as well all sorts of interesting facts about the cogwheel railway. The young visitors attentively followed his explanations, and asked interested questions.

Well, and then the mountain was calling: The group took the cogwheel railway up to the highest station, and then climbed the last meters to the mountain top.

After a short break and enjoying the unsurpassable view, the trainees and their instructors hiked back along the panorama trail, down to the top station of the cogwheel railway, to explore the Wendelstein cave nearby.

This natural karst cave and Germany's highest show cave, where you can find snow even in midsummer, was discovered by chance by a Bavarian citizen in 1864.

After that, they all took the cogwheel railway down to Mitteralm, a mountain inn, for lunch.

And, finally, as the last activity of the day, the group set off well-rested and -strengthened to climb down the mountain pasture, and back again to valley station of the Wendelstein cogwheel railway.

Bottom line: interesting information, fantastic view, great excursion – in short a fun day.

By the way, on 2 September 2019, four new trainees – Alexander Engel and Thomas Stuffer as industrial technicians as well as Remigius Kink and Tobias Wersching as mechatronics technicians – started their professional careers with the esmo group.

The esmo group trainers are dedicated to supporting the young professionals on their way into working life as well as to optimally prepare them for their future careers. Just like conveying profound and extensive practical and theoretical knowledge, they have committed themselves to encouraging the personal development of their young colleagues.

The entire team of the esmo group welcomes its four "newcomers", wishes them a successful start into their professional lives, and looks forward to a great time working together.
