Girls' Day 2022 @ esmo

esmo group of companies providing female school students insight into technical professions

28 April 2022 was THE day, Girls' Day: Laura from Stephanskirchen, Rebekka from Raubling, and Simone from Rosenheim had the chance to get to know the professions of industrial technician and mechatronics technician for an entire day.

At 09.00 a.m. they set off – almost a bit late, considering the regular working hours in mechanical engineering ...

esmo AG personnel officer Ursula Danner as well as the two training supervisors Florian Zosseder and Georg Fischbacher warmly welcomed the three school students from the 7th and 8th grades of the Michael-Ende-School Raubling as well as the Girls' Secondary School in Rosenheim to the esmo group headquarters in Brueckenstrasse, Rosenheim.

After getting to know each other and having some snacks, the practical part started:
The girls had the possibility to familiarize themselves with various crafts activities and skills (such as filing, line marking, graining), and also with some electrotechnical operations (such as soldering, wiring, assembling), so that they would later be able to produce their own little work pieces. This way, they learned all kinds of interesting and informative things about conventional mechanical manufacturing processes (like milling, turning, drilling etc.) and computer-controlled mechanical manufacturing processes (CNC milling) alike.

As a perfect combination of theory and practice, Laura, Rebekka, and Simone were then given the opportunity to craft sealable stainless steel dice cups, whereby Johanna Breitrainer (industrial technician) and the two trainees Dennis Deljkic (mechatronics technician) and Kilian Fuchs (industrial technician) supported the girls with advice, and shared valuable tips and tricks.

The school students' feedback was consistently positive: All three had enjoyed their day at esmo very much. They could now even see themselves taking up the profession of industrial technician or mechatronics technician at a later time. Well, and maybe even at esmo AG – the three of them have taken their first step in this direction on this year's Girls' Day.

Girls' Day was launched in 2001 to motivate girls and women in particular to take up technical professions in so-called "male domains", and thus increase the proportion of female employees in these industries.

The esmo group of companies has been participating in the Girls' Day event for several years now, and provides school students insight into the professions of industrial technician and mechatronics technician. On this day, the young women furthermore get to know the company and also an overview of its various areas of activity. Next year, esmo will once again be looking forward to opening its doors to interested young women on Girls' Day.

Each year, at least four new trainees start at esmo AG in the training professions of industrial technician (f/m/d) and mechatronics technician (f/m/d). For more information on the esmo training offer, please refer to our website training@esmo + YOUR career start with the esmo group
