Apprentice Trip 2024

A Day Full of Knowledge, Culture, and Team Spirit in Munich

On Thursday, September 5, 2024, our annual apprentice trip took place, once again taking our 14 apprentices from the first, second, and third training years to Munich. Under bright sunshine, the group set off early in the morning by train from Rosenheim to the Bavarian capital. The goal of the excursion was not only to offer the apprentices an exciting and varied day but also to strengthen team spirit and provide them with the opportunity to come together in a relaxed atmosphere outside of their everyday work.

The first program of the day led us to the renowned Deutsches Museum, which was recently renovated and revamped. It is one of the largest science and technology museums in the world. Our apprentices received an exclusive tour of the current exhibition, offering fascinating insights into the history and developments in technology, science, and research. The 90-minute tour provided plenty of opportunities to ask questions, exchange ideas on various technological innovations, and even try out some hands-on activities.

After this informative and inspiring museum tour, the group moved on to the Munich city center. The next stop was the historic Viktualienmarkt, where they could marvel at (and taste) the lively atmosphere and the wide variety of regional and international delicacies. The apprentices also had time to explore the market in smaller groups and discover the culinary offerings around the Viktualienmarkt.

The journey then continued past Odeonsplatz and the Residenz to the famous Eisbachwelle in the English Garden, where the group had the chance to watch surfers show off their skills on the standing wave right in the middle of the city. For many apprentices, this unique spectacle was a highlight, as surfing in a metropolis like Munich is a rare sight.

Following the eventful morning and afternoon program, the group headed to the Olympic Park, built for the 1972 Olympic Games, which remains a popular leisure and event venue. Our group took the opportunity to explore the Olympic venues and learn more about the history of this impressive location. A particularly pleasant end to the day was a pedal boat ride on the Olympic Lake, where everyone could relax and enjoy the tranquility—against the backdrop of the towering Olympic Tower, which dominated the scene.

After a day full of exciting and diverse experiences, the group returned to Rosenheim by train in the evening. This year’s excursion not only offered fascinating insights into science and technology but also plenty of opportunities to strengthen team spirit and bring apprentices from all training years closer together. It was a successful day that will undoubtedly remain a positive memory for both apprentices and supervisors for a long time to come!
