Robotics in Automation

Industrial robots guarantee maximum efficiency in production processes while maintaining a consistently high quality. In the digitalized times of Industry 4.0, robot automation has become more individual and flexible than ever before.

esmo automation integrates robot technology into production lines in order to perform most diverse sequences of actions and production processes, aided by an individually coordinated number of tools and gripping devices. The objective is to have robots reliably execute precise and highly dynamic, automated motion sequences. That's why industrial robots are indispensable for the efficiency-optimized production chains of our modern industrial age.

Fields of Application for Industrial Robots

As an international full-service provider in the sectors of plant engineering, custom machine engineering, and automation technology, the integration and programming of robots are an integral part of our daily tasks. Our experts configure automated robots for the following areas:

  • quality assurance (QA)
  • feeding, loading, pick + place
  • sorting and packing
  • assembly and further processing

Robotics is currently developing particularly fast and dynamically in the fields of image recognition and processing – and not only because of its high process reliability. In the areas listed above, industrial image processing is gaining greater importance and is playing an increasingly vital role.

esmo automation uses applications of various renowned robotics manufacturers in its automation systems, preferably Staeubli, Denso, or ABB – if required, however, Epson, Bosch, Fanuc, Panasonic, Yaskawa, Mitsubishi , or Universal Robots as well. In our selection of applications we are not tied to any of the above-quoted manufacturers though. This allows us to choose from an extensive product range, and offer you the best robotics solutions as per your individual specifications and requirements.

Jointed Arm Robots

Jointed arm robots are industrial robots with up to six axes. This category includes, for example –

  • SCARA robots (horizontal jointed arm robots)
  • palletizing robots
  • 5- and 6-axis robots
  • collaborative industrial robots

Key benefits and major advantages of these robots:

  • ready-to-use solution with control system included
  • simple and fast spare parts supply

Axis Systems

Two or more standard linear axes may be used to create handling systems with individually distinctive properties. Robots consisting of axis systems include, among others:

  • portal robots
  • gantries/gantry systems

Key benefits and major advantages of these robots:

  • customized adaptation of the respective traverse paths to the individual application case at hand
  • optimum adjustment of individually required loading capacities

Robot Arm/Axis System Combination

In case the kinematics of a robot arm is required but the motion range in one direction is not given, a combination of these two systems will be the most feasible solution.

Safety Concepts for Working with Robots

The high degree of operating speed and force of industrial robots requires an equally high level of carefully thought-out and efficient safety precautions to prevent or exclude any personal injuries and/or equipment damage. The following options are available for this purpose:

  • enclosure/housing: physical protection against injury or damage (robotic cell)
  • sensor technology: light barriers and camera systems detect hazards and, if required, slow down or entirely stop motions (for collaborative robots, this will only be possible if the corresponding motions are not too fast and/or neither sharp nor pointed tools are being used)
